Weston-Super-Mare is the setting for Becoming Liz Taylor, Elizabeth’s first novel published last year. It’s been shortlisted for best debut novel and was named by Kobo (e and audio books) as one of their “best of 2023”. Come along to find out more about the book and the ups and downs of writing it.

How Not to Write a Crime Novel

Appearing at ILF for the second time, Paul is a prolific writer best known for his 5 successful ‘D. I. ‘Zig’ Batten’ mystery novels, set largely in Somerset. He’ll be speaking about “How Not to Write a Crime Novel”- covering what he wished he’d known before he started writing them.

Hazel Prior:
Away with the Penguins

A popular read and a Richard and Judy Book Club pick, Away with the Penguins was Hazel’s first novel among many later ones and is the subject of this session. A professional harpist as well as writer, she’ll be featuring her Celtic harp, so this will be a talk with a difference.
