Emma Carroll has worked as an English teacher, a news reporter, an avocado picker and the person who punches holes into filofax paper. She now writes full-time. Emma’s books include ghost story ‘Frost Hollow Hall’, the circus adventure, ‘The Girl Who Walked On Air’, and ‘In Darkling Wood’, which is based on the real life mystery of the Cottingley Fairies.
Her latest novel ‘Strange Star’ (Faber, July 2016) is set on Lake Geneva in the summer of 1816. In the middle of a thunderstorm, a girl arrives with a peculiar tale to tell. Hers is a story of lightning, wolves, mad scientists and comets. And it inspires a young woman – Mary Shelley – to write one of the most famous horror stories of all – ‘Frankenstein’.
